How to start with CNC 6040 machine part 2
This is the second part and continues the first impressions the general description.
The Stepper motor controller is powering the stepper motors . It is controlled by the computer by the parallel port. This controller is adequate for most of the jobs. There are more advanced controllers on the market that can do more demanding jobs but so far this one served well.
This is the shaft that is connected to the stepper motor. After a year of use it destroyed the aluminum coupling to because of a slight misalignment as you see above .
This is "documentation". Fortunately I found a much more detailed manual on Google.
These are the various cables that are needed by the controller. Notice the 200-240V mark that is in theory the European version. Also don't forget to power the controller through the computer USB . It will not work properly without it.
Notice the big power supply for the stepper motors. The boards are powered separately from USB.
If you are from North America or any country that has 110v for main line , pay attention to this.
The power supply that is inside the case is setup for 220 v. make sure that you switch it to 110V.

Even though I asked for a US version , I got an European version. I was not going to send it back for this detail.
The machine comes only with a 3mm collet . I bought those separate on Ebay .
